After Applying - What You'll Need to Enroll

Let's make your enrollment simple and easy.

After successfully applying, and through placement in the lottery or with space permitting, your child will be offered a seat at Scholarship Prep. Have these documents on hand before starting the enrollment process. We'll need all the documents before we can process your enrollment, but we're here to help you do it right. Let us know if you hit any snags or have any questions.

No email address? No problem! Call or visit the school for help with the enrollment process.

*Foster/homeless youth may not be required to present all documents. Please let us help you with enrollment in special circumstances.

The Open Enrollment Lottery

Applications are now accepted for the 2025-2026 school year. Open enrollment will end on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Should there be more applicants than available seats, a lottery will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024. Families will be notified of lottery results through email or text, depending on your preferred method of communication. Additional applicants will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis until all seats are filled. 


Enrollment FAQs

  • Is there a tuition cost to attend Scholarship Prep?

     There is no cost to attend Scholarship Prep! We are a tuition-free public school. 

  • Who is eligible to attend Scholarship Prep? Are there any requirements for admission?

    • All students may apply and are eligible for enrollment. 
    • Students are enrolled without regard to grade point average, test scores, discipline records, etc. 
    • We do not discriminate against any pupil on the basis of disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, including immigration status.
    • All students, including students with disabilities, homeless and foster youth, and English Learners, are eligible to attend.
    • Although we welcome parent volunteers and have created many community partnerships, parental involvement is not a requirement for a child's acceptance to or continued enrollment at Scholarship Prep.

  • My child has an IEP. Does Scholarship Prep accept students with IEP’s?

    Yes, Scholarship Prep accepts all students. We have a comprehensive Special Education program. If you have specific questions about our Special Education program, please contact our Special Education Department.


  • When can I enroll my student?

    During the current school year:

    If there are seats open during the current academic year, we invite you to submit an enrollment application! 


    For the following school year:

    Open enrollment for the following school year takes place for students new to Scholarship Prep in the winter of each year. Additional applicants will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis until all seats are filled.  



  • When is Open Enrollment?

    Applications are now accepted for the 2025-2026 school year. Open enrollment will end on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Should there be more applicants than available seats, a lottery will occur on Friday, December 6, 2024. 


    Families of applicants will be notified of lottery results through email or text, depending on your preferred method of communication. 


    Additional applicants will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis until all seats are filled.  

  • Can I enroll my child after the lottery is held?

    Yes. 


    Enrollment continues after the Open Enrollment Lottery period, through the start of the school year. 


    If open seats remain after the Open Enrollment Lottery period, Scholarship Prep will continue to accept applications until all seats are filled.



  • How do enrollment lotteries work?

    If more enrollment forms from potential students are submitted than the number of spaces available at each grade level at the close of open enrollment, the school will conduct a random public lottery.


    We will mail, call and/or e-mail each family to confirm their child's acceptance until all available seats are filled. It is possible to be placed on the waitlist and then called from the waitlist later in the year.


  • If my child is offered an available seat for enrollment, what additional information is required?

    In order to ensure that your child is fully enrolled, you are required to complete any necessary paperwork by the deadlines set by the school. This will include:


    • Admission Application
    • Home Language Survey, and
    • Emergency Medical Information Form;
    • Copy of Proof of Immunizations;
    • Copy of Proof of Residence; 
    • Proof of birth date; 
    • Copy of student’s IEP or 504 Plan, if applicable - This information helps the school prepare to give your child the best education possible starting on day one;
    • Parent signature on Technology Use Agreement, 
    • Release and Waiver of Liability, 
    • Assumption of Risk Form, and Photograph/Media Waiver;
    • Emergency Contact Information;
    • Oral Health Assessment for Kindergarten; and 
    • 190 Report of Health Examination for School Entry.

    However, application documents may not be necessary for foster/homeless youth. Please reach out to us for help if you are applying for a foster child or a child with an unstable living situation. We're here to help!

  • What is SchoolMint?

    SchoolMint is an online enrollment and communication platform working with public, charters, and private schools to make the enrollment process for parents easier and faster.


    SchoolMint offers different options, so parents can apply and register with a computer or mobile device. Parents can upload student documents, check application status, and even select the method they prefer to receive school communications, - by email or text.


    SP utilizes this enrollment software to ensure security and timely response to your student’s acceptance.

  • What is the age requirement for transitional kindergarten? What is the age requirement for kindergarten?

    Students enrolling in transitional kindergarten (TK) must turn five on or before December 1st in their year of enrollment. 


    Students enrolling in kindergarten must turn five on or before September 1st in their year of enrollment.


  • I have additional questions about enrolling at Scholarship Prep that are not answered here. Who can I contact?

    Our admissions team is ready to help answer your questions. Please submit your question using our admissions contact form or reach us during office hours at the phone number for the campus closest to you. Anyone in the office can help you reach someone with answers to your questions.


  • My student is in foster care or experiencing housing insecurity. Can we enroll at SP?

    Yes! Scholarship Prep was designed with your student and your family in mind. We are proud to provide extensive support to our SP families, from parenting courses to job training to household necessities, we will make sure both your student and your family have the tools and support you need to succeed.  

  • Does my student qualify for McKinney Vento support?

    Students who are qualified under McKinney Vento include those who are...

    • In a shelter (family, domestic violence, or youth shelter) or a transitional living program
    • In a motel, hotel, or weekly rate housing
    • In a house or apartment with more than one family because of economic hardship or loss
    • In temporary foster care or with an adult who is not a parent or guardian
    • In substandard housing without electricity, water, or heat
    • With friends or family because they are a runaway or unaccompanied youth
